Case Study: Cardiff City Hall Emergency Response Kitchen
Situated in Cathay’s Park, Cardiff, Cardiff City Hall serves as the centre of local government. On 29 August 2018 a fire broke out in the grade 1 listed property. Despite the work of the six fire engines and an aerial ladder on call to site, the kitchen in the building was completely ruined, leaving the hall with no way to cater for upcoming events such as weddings.
Dawsongroup were contacted by a commercial loss adjuster, looking to acquire temporary kitchens which would allow the venue to continue their catering to the same standard as before the fire.
Dawsongroup | temporary kitchens reacted swiftly, sending a member of the installation team to Cardiff from our base in Bristol in under three hours of the initial call. This enabled a full assessment of the site including siting location, catering equipment and the identification of any additional products which would be required to get the site operational as soon as possible. With all relevant information gathered, back at site, a quote was produced and the additional services (generator and security fencing) were sourced by Dawsongroup providing a one stop solution and ensuring minimal disruption to the clients’ process.
Under 48 hours from the initial enquiry we had installed a fully operational 16ft pot wash unit and a 28ft production kitchen filled with equipment from top name brands such as Falcon, Rational and Polar.
Dawsongroup initially hired the facility to Cardiff City Hall for 3 weeks however, due to the refurbishment taking longer than expected; we were able to extend the contract ensuring the client was not left unable to provide their service. This highlights one of the many benefits of hiring from us – if your requirement changes, whether it is equipment provision or an extension of the contract duration to fit your period of works, we are able to accommodate your needs.
“Thank you...for providing [a] kitchen at such short notice. Everyone we have dealt with at Dawsongroup throughout the entire process has been extremely accommodating and professional and has helped to make a challenging situation just that bit easier.”
