Case Study: Volvo Ocean Race - Cardiff Bay
Dawsongroup kitchens recently supplied commercial kitchen facilities for crew dining whilst the Volvo Ocean Race, stopped over in Cardiff – the first time the race has come to the UK in over a decade!
The race itself navigates the globe, visiting 12 cities, touching 6 continents with crews afloat for around 9 months. Whenever they do hit land, it is imperative that the catering provision allows them to refuel effectively before their onward journey. Whilst in Cardiff, The Race Village was set up in the Cardiff Bay area of the city offering the public an up-close and incredibly interactive experience, against a stunning backdrop.
Due to the congested back of house areas at The Race Village, Dawsongroup kitchens provided the 16ft Production Kitchen solution fully equipped with the necessary commercial catering appliances, based on the client’s exact requirements. Being an incredibly busy site all transport and installation movements were time critical. Our Install Engineers achieved this with ease, given our experience in this type of logistical scenario.
As the boats head off to Gothenburg, the client commented that they couldn’t have been happier with how the whole project had gone. All crews had left the Welsh capital fully recharged for their expected 4 day dash to Sweden.
