Case Study: Sarum College
Sarum College is an ecumenical centre for Christian study and research. Located in the heart of Salisbury, it occupies Grade 1 listed buildings in the scenic Salisbury’s Cathedral Close.
Sarum College contacted us needing a temporary kitchen unit for a total of 6 weeks, allowing them to maintain their catering function during a renovation. The college provides meals for its students, as well as guests staying at their B&B. The kitchen would be in use 7 days a week whilst installed and had to be fully equipped to their exact requirements.
Assisting businesses during refurbishments, no matter what the location, is an area we have vast experience in. We supplied them with a fully equipped Commander unit. The 25ft kitchen was fitted with a 10 grid combi oven, 6 ring burner, lift hood dishwasher, hot cupboard bain marie, salamander grill, stainless steel preparation tables and an upright chiller.
In total 3 site visits were made to the college. These were made to develop and finalise the planning process. Delivery started at 6am to avoid road closures whilst the unit was pulled slowly through a small, historic archway. It was then craned over a Grade 1 listed wall and slowly forklifted to its designated site. Once in place, DDA compliant ramps were built for the kitchen specifically for this job. The install from start to finish took 11 hours.
