Case Study: Poole High School
Poole High School is a high achieving comprehensive with 1700 pupils aged between 12 and 18 years of age. During the process of demolishing and rebuilding of their kitchens, Dawsongroup temporary kitchens were approached to provide a bespoke temporary cateing facility.
With constant improvement and development of their large school premises to accommodate the ever increasing number of pupils, one of the sites requiring a temporary kitchen posed a challenge for us in terms of its location and limited access.
We worked closely with the school ensuring all of their objectives were achieved. Three separate kitchen units were supplied to Poole High School in order to maintain the high volume catering operation that the school was accustomed to. We installed a production kitchen equipped with an oven, grill, fryer, hot cupboard, air extraction, water heater and various sinks and tables. A 25ft Commander pot wash/preparation kitchen was installed which contained just sinks and a water heater to work with the school's existing equipment. These two kitchens would be used to cater for the majority of the students and staff who will eat in the existing main dining area.
Tailoring solutions to the client's needs is a top priority for us and our flexibility particularly in this project was paramount. We have the ability to design facilities bespoke to an individual clients' specifications and are incredibly flexible in terms of internal equipment. With some of the client's own equipment used in our kitchen facilities, significant savings to our client were achieved as a result. Our vast experience and expertise ensured the challenge of installing one of the kitchens in an area with limited access was overcome, with the use of forklifts and pallet trucks the kitchen unit was carefully positioned and installed by the team.
Our high levels of experience and flexibility are the main factors in the success of this project. The positioning of the kitchen units was crucial and allowed Poole High School to maintain their high standards of food and service that both students and staff had come to expect, with the ability to cater in various areas of the school. All kitchens supplied by Dawsongroup had been designed to meet the requirements set by the Environmental Health Organisation (EHO). The equipment installed by Dawsongroup qualified installation team is thoroughly checked by the EHO to ensure all health and safety standards are adhered to and as usual the kitchen installation at Poole High School clearly passed all of the EHO's safety standards.
