Case Study: Radbrook Nursing Home, Morris Care Ltd

Morris Care provides professional nursing and residential care facilities across 6 homes in Shropshire and Cheshire, offering a range of services including palliative, respite and dementia care.

Having already been a current customer of Dawsongroup temporary kitchens, following the successful installation of a kitchen unit at Oldbury Nursing Home back in May 2017, Morris Care got in touch again as they scheduled renovation plans at a second site, based in Shrewsbury.

“To date, Dawsons have been extremely accommodating, having already provided a temporary kitchen at one of our other projects”

Mr Mooney - Group Facilities Manager

The Shrewsbury plan is to increase capacity from 43 to 60 bedrooms, with the extension and refurbishment due to take around 18 months. During these works the existing kitchen facility will be converted into 4 new bedrooms and the current catering function within the home is to be decommissioned and rebuilt in the new extension.

In order to ensure continuity in catering for residents and prevent the need for outsourcing this function, Dawsongroup were able to provide a temporary kitchen unit that could be operated by the home’s catering team and installed with equipment to their specifications.

“Morris Care are always looking to review and improve our existing buildings to maximise the benefit for our residents and using a temporary kitchen enables us to maintain a high standard of service delivery with minimal disruption”

Mr Mooney - Group Facilities Manager

Dawsongroup’s Healthcare Account Executive, James Richmond’s ongoing working relationship with Morris Care and their Group Facilities Manager enabled a site survey to be promptly arranged to ensure that the final location could be achieved with minimal disruption.  The unit was to be sited in the home’s rear courtyard but due to restricted access, the only method of delivery was to crane over the top of the building. A representative from the crane operator, Dewsbury & Proud, was also present to assist in generating a plan for the day of delivery. This involved confirming accurate timings so bedrooms could be vacant during the crane lift.
