Case Study: Saladworks
Saladworks is one of the country's most advanced food facilities, originally designed to handle very high care salad products with the ability to mix raw and cooked ingredients in the same product. With only the best quality ingredients sourced locally, this family run business produce high quality chilled food ranging from sandwiches and desserts as well as premium ready-to-eat and ready-to-cook meals for Tesco and Waitrose, vegetable accompaniments as well as Saladworks own branded produce.
Blueberry Foods, part of the Samworth Brothers group, have designed a brand new custom-built dessert manufacturing facility at the Saladworks site, featuring the latest technology equipment. Designed specifically for the production of a new product line and to fulfil a contract with Marks & Spencer, it was necessary to commence the research, development and testing process whilst the permanent structures were being developed. As a result, temporary facilities for kitchens, freezers, cold storage and offices were required for the duration of 35 weeks.
Following an initial site survey, recommendations were put forward for the addition of temporary kitchens linked together via a portable office. Dawsongroup temporary kitchens worked alongside our temperature controlled storage business unit and closely with the client to ensure that we provided an effective solution.
This objective was successfully achieved with the installation of two Commander kitchens, each measuring 7.6m x 2.9m x 3.0m. Incorporating a range of premium catering equipment including a six burner range, 20-grid combination oven, double basket fryer and salamander grill, all our kitchen units comply with all required health and safety standards, installed with a fully adjustable air extraction system and an automated Ansul fire suppression system.
To continue the smooth running of the existing food production, the kitchens were installed remotely from the main building. With all aspects of the installation complete and equipment running within just two days, Dawsongroup have once again exceeded customer's expectations and Blueberry Foods were able to begin their manufacturing project ahead of the production schedule.
